'DWTS' judges

We watch Dancing With The Stars. Don't ask me how we started or why, but we do. I like the competition. I like seeing the best get to the top. I espcially like it if there are several good couples instead of one and I can't pick my favorite. There is one thing I don't like though.... The judges. Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli. Why don't I like them? They're completely wrong - generally speaking that is. Sometimes they make a good call... sometimes. The horrible thing is they don't judge based on the stars ability; they judge on sob-stories, "hot-ness", choreography, and props. Here is a break-down.

Carrie Ann Inaba: Cry a few times and she'll pat your hand, tell you you're a good girl and give you a seven. Be a "hot" guy and she'll smile, flirt and stand up yelling about how you "blew her away with the performance".

Len Goodman: Ok, so he HATES props. Period! If you want a good score you had better not use a prop or your dance should be REALLY good so he forgets the "horrible" props. Also, he is a stickler for choreography. I personaly don't think you should judge the stars on the choreography. They don't decide the steps, the dancers do.

Bruno Tonioli: first let me say that he is my favorite.. Alright, I don't have a lot of bones to pick with his judging. I don't always agree with him, but I agree with him more than the other two, although he too will pick a hot guy over a good dancer. (btw: I do not condone homosexuality in any way, but his opinion is the one I tend to agree with the most and I wont lie about that just because I disagree with his life style).

Alright, now you probably want to know who my favorite couples are. Here:

Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas

Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy (I don't actually really like Maks - he is full of himself -I like Kirstie)

Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff

In no particular order. The only one I've voted for so far is Chelsea because I personally think the judges are playing favorites with Kendra since she is this sad, "feel-sorry-for-me" little character and they just love to pick favorites. The more the person plays "oh, poor, pitiful me" the more they fall for it and give the star a better score. It doesn't matter if they are good or not and there is no way Kendra was better than Chelsea.. Kendra looked like a mannequin.

Sorry about my rant! I just get so annoyed with the judges and their complete inability to actually judge according to talent. Ooops! I started fussing again... my bad.

Bad news - Sad news

First round of bad/sad news: This morning as I was waking up my Grandpa called me. I was surprised to see him actually calling. Not that he doesn't call - it's just he normally calls my mom and then talks to the rest of us. So I answered: "Hey Grandpa!"
"Hey baby girl, is your mom home?"
"Not right now - she left for work about 20 minutes ago. Do you need something?"
"I've been trying to get in touch with her for a little while - I'm thinking I don't have the right number. Can you give me the right one?"
"Sure! Are you okay?"
"Not really, my oldest brother passed on last night around 10pm." I was really surprised. I asked him which brother (he is one are 13 - as of last night there are 5 of them left - its sad.) and he didn't hear me. He kept talking about trying to get in touch with my mom and how sad he is. I was worried that it was James or J.D. that had died - (I haven't met all of his siblings - those are the only two brothers I think I know - they are awesome). I asked him again and he told me that it was his 89yo brother that I hadn't met. We talked for a few more minutes and I told him I'd call my mom so she could call him that way her number would be in his phone. He agreed and before we hung up he said the thing that actually made me wanna cry: "You know, it's hard to see you brother take his last breath." :(  I wanted to cry - it was so sad. I hate it when my grandpa is sad. In fact - when any old(er) person is sad I am sad with them.
SO that's the first round of bad news I heard today.
AND NOW for the second round:
My dad was half thrown (he half jumped off for safety) from a horse (my favorite horse actually) today and his arm might be broken (he doesn't think it is -) plus his hip and leg hurt - he's very stiff from it. So it's been a weird day.
It's been raining out and people have been shopping even more that normal! You'd think that the rain would keep them at home, but no! I went to the mall to get my lunch (since it's right across the street from where I work) and the whole place was buzzing with people. You couldn't walk without side-stepping someone. It was crazy! And then I just had to go and watch the movie Selena with J.Lo in it - yes a teared up at the end. it's such a sad movie.
It's been a good day though - other than the weird/sad stuff. :)

A sneak peek...

I thought I'd do a "series" sort of thing. A series of posts called "A peek into my..." and picking a subject. Like "A peek into my closet" or "A peek into my hope chest" and so on. What do you think?
I believe I'll start with "A peek into my make-up box". Just a note, this idea was very random and I haven't taken any pictures so I'll have to look up pictures, sorry. Next time I'll take my own photos.

Ok, all of the make up products below are my current favorites and are sure to change when they discontinue what I'm using (they've done that to me twice already) or the store is out of what I usually wear and I'm forced to find something else.

One of my favorites is: Cover Girl Invisible Concealer.

I only put it on the worst acne spots. It's not too heavy and doesn't show through my foundation, which is awesome! I also put it beneath my eyes when my dark circles are really bad that day and it doesn't look discolored. I do warn you, get it a shade lighter than your skin shade, because it can be a bit dark.

Maybelline Mineral Power: Powder Foundation

I love this. You do have to be careful putting it on, because it can go on heavy. I have perfected it though, so it's no problem for me.
Merle Norman eyeshadow

My favorite eyeshadow ever! It doesn't go on too heavy and they have beautiful shades. My favorite is currently Mink, but I have Champagne and Sugar Plum too. I wish I had more, but I have just the three (they are really expensive - at least for my wallet). I think next time I buy some I'll get Ice and Cocoa.

Almay Intense i-color eyeliner

I have both Topaz and Raisin Quartz because my eyes can look either blue or green, depending on how they feel that day. I like to be prepared. Interesting bit of trivia - Lys wears the same eyeliner (Raisin Quartz, because of her beautiful green eyes).
Maybelline Pulse Perfection Mascara

Ok, so when I first got this I was just looking for good mascara. I used to use a different kind that was discontinued and I had been looking for a replacement ever since. I randomly picked this one (after having been seriously tick at my previous masacra) and bought it. I tried it on the next day for church and realized it vibrated (can you tell I didn't pay much attention?). I love this stuff. At first I was afraid the vibrating would make the mascara go everywhere, but after holding the brush down over the sink and pressing the button for awhile and nothing sprayed everywhere, I was fairly confident that it wouldnt get all over me! This is the best mascara, I really hope that they don't discontinue it. One thing though - I may try Lyssa's mascara one time, her's looks awesome.


Revlon Colorstay Mineral Finishing Powder: Brighten

I had some great Blush that Bee (Lyssa's sis Bee, not to be confused with my sis Bree) gave me, but I ran out and had to go to the store for more (the kind Bee used was ordered online and a bit expensive). I looked all over for some similar and couldn't find any blush like it, but this Finishing Powder was close. Instead of just putting it on my cheeks though, I put a light dusting all over my face. I may try the bronze-ish one in the summer when I have a tan, but this works fine for now.

**ring ring** part two.

I am better than Riah is - but I'm still coughing and my nose is still buggin' me.
Unlike Ri, though, I am almost normal and am doing more normal activities.
I haven't told her this yet (since we haven't talked on the phone...) but I had my first ever motorcycle ride yesterday. It was awesome!
Well, I'm off to clean my room - it's kinda scary in there.

We are still sick, or at least I am (I haven't actually talked to Lys today)... So it may or may not be while before y'all get another post. Plus, my family is sick also (all three little siblings and Mom - only Kay and Dad have managed to stay the picture of health).

Sick Day

Riah and I are both out for sick days. We both have colds. SO if you don't here from us for a few days then you know why. **cough** **sniff**

What are best friends for?

So you know you and your best friend think the same when you both surprise each other with a random gift the same day. Weird, right?
Lys got me a beautiful blown glass, blue heart necklace. I love it!! It was sooooo sweet of her! I adore it, it's sooo me (pictures coming soon).
I got Lys a book (not the one I wanted to get her, or even my second choice, but it was a sad little book store and didn't have good ones). I am hoping to find the one I really wanted to get her sometime soon!

So, here is how the story went. We stopped by her house yesterday and I walked in and handed her a book I had borrowed and then told her I had something for her. She looked at me in surprise as I handed her the book and exclaimed that she had something for me too. We go upstairs to her room and she hands me a small gift bag. I open it up and inside is this small blue heart necklace... I was so surprised. She said she saw it at work and thought of me! How sweet!! Her gift to me was better than mine to her... I really hope to get her a better book soon (fingers crossed the one I got will be good). We both started laughing when we thought about how alike we must be to pick the same week (in a whole year of weeks) in which to give each other a random gift. Our brains must be in sync.

God made us best friends because he knew our mom's couldn't handle us as sisters!

I still can't figure out what my destiny is or even if I feel like doing my homework tonight. But, I do know this: I've got music in my car, a closet full of clothes and the best friend a girl could have... and baby, that's all I need.

We had inventory at work this weekend. lets just say that it was crazy! on saturday i didn't get home until 2am - well 3am with the time change. then we did more inventory on sunday. then on monday i worked and then babysat. "tired" doesnt begin to describe it!

Here we are together me (Riah) and me (Lys)! Finally on our second (ever) sleep over. We don't want it to end - but it does tomorrow morning. **Sob**  It's just so sad that it has to end! But, we have had a great time. We even nearly teared up at a "girly" movie! How cliche is that?! We have stayed up until 2am every night watching movies and reading - more talking than reading though... go figure! Yeah we have actually fallen asleep talking every night, which includes not saying good night to each other and just falling asleep somewhere during a break in the conversation. Yeah... last time I slept over we said "good night" tooo much!! It was like we'd say good night and then find something new to talk about - repeat...repeat... Let me tell you, it's been something else. We put Lys to lots of work. At our house, cooking and cleaning and planning. Then... we put her to work at our church, cleaning up after communion and setting up for the potluck. Poor, poor Lyssa! I don't mind though! I actually enjoy helping out. :) We have so much fun cleaning together! Listening to music...fussin' at the little girls to stop playing wii and clean... Awww, how sweet is she. She is the bestest! So, right now to us two best friends are watching a movie about two best friends who go wrong and vowing to never ever act that way (it's Bride Wars). It's a great movie! Riah and I will NEVER act like these girls. If we did I'd have someone smack some sense into us! Yeah, I'd ask any of y'all to smack me. I can't imagine acting like that. 1. I hate making my bed. I do have a reason for that though. Why should I make my bed every morning if I'm going to get back in it that night? Plus, I sit on my bed all day and it just wrinkles it anyway.

2. I like sunflowers best. I also like just about any yellow flower, they just look so cheery and happy!
