To everyone! Hopefuly all of your last minute shopping is done and you are contently staring at wrapped gifts just waiting to be handed out - I'm not, but I hope you are! (well I'm done shopping, I'm just not done wrapping.) Hopefully you're staying warm and loved. Hopefully you're dreaming sweet dreams of sugar plums and nutcrackers :) Hopefully you're all happy and healthy and most importantly with people who love you! And even if your not any of those things, remember the holiday is about a perfect man who came to this earth just so he could die to save you, so you are loved by someone, even though you can't see Him!

Oh Christmas Crafts (excerpt)

I've been keeping busy making Christmas gifts. I'm on a (very) limited budget, so most of my gifts will be handmade. Some of the things I'm making are:
Christmas ornaments - not for my tree, I don't have a tree. But as small gifts for other people.
Baked goods - An easy gift for men! Who doesn't like cookies, breads and other Christmas-y desserts??
Articals of clothing - sorry can't be specific here, never know who is reading!!

Chrismas sewing has been crazy, thankfully the baking hasn't started yet. That'd be pretty gross - two week old cookies?? Ugh

Fall {it means}

So... It's fall time again which means apple cider and pumpkin pie. It means that it's ok to drink warm drinks again (As much as I love an ice blended chai). It means knit tops and boots. It means blankets and books (not that I didn't already do the book part). It means dodging freezing rain and running helplessly into the library. It means open windows and colored leaves.

It means fall happiness!!

Summer-ness

Summer is..

 sweet tea

and

 humid evenings.

Summer is

fresh zuchini strait from the garden and stir fried.

Summer is

 late evenings that don't feel late because the sun sets around seven or eight.

Summer is

 watermellon with dinner or for dessert - whichever you like.

Summer is

for complaining its too hot for starbucks, but then going and getting a latte anyway.

Summer is

 for cotton dresses

and

 bare feet (if forced to wear shoes, flip flops).

Summer is

for splashing in creeks

and

 front porch (or back deck) sitting.

 Summer is

 for reading outside, maybe in the grass, maybe on a swing, maybe on the porch.

Summer is

 for journaling and quote-booking.

Summer is

for smoothies

 and

 ice cream.

Summer is

 for laughs

 and

 Sunshine.

Of Gardens and Spring

We've been busy with our garden. Because I'm getting married between planting season and harvesting season, I wont be putting in my own garden this year. That'll have to wait until next spring (hey - next spring I'll have been married almost a year). But, Momma said if I helped put in this garden (which I'd do any way, thank you very much Momma) that she'd plant extra and give some to us. I jumped at the chance. And of course I'll be back a lot to work on canning since I don't have any canning stuff. Plus canning is easier with a bunch of people and it only makes sense to help perchase stuff and just all can together. Ok.. Sorry about the rabbit trail. On to pictures :)

Lettuce. Although it looks great here, it sadly became slug infested and we had to pull it all out. It was really really gross.

Summer let's us enjoy clean kitchens:

Summer also destroys those clean kitchens (the same day you clean them!):

Just to can the tons and tons of tomatoes from the garden!

It also:

Gives you tons of yummy canned tomatoes - even if it costs you a clean kitchen!

Yeah, I love summer, but I don't exactly enjoy having my nice, clean kitchen messed up. It was worth it though :)

These are some of my favorite things about summer:

Reading new books and listening to music while sitting in our sunroom.

Taking tons of pictures of my beautiful sunflowers.

Going to the Bicentennial Gardens with my sisters and Grandma.

Getting long cheery letters from dear friends. I love Amber's letters!

Seeing our sidewalk up to our house so covered with plants that you can't even walk up it. Beautiful, no?

Laying on the ground to get close up shots like this.

Taking close ups of little sister's "très adorable" freckles.

And new perspectives... Our porch and stairs look so much more picturesque from this view!

We have SNOW!

Here in the wonderful state of North Carolina, where the snow is rare, we have snow. It started last night and is still falling as I type this. Riah said that they have about 7 inches - we have about 4 right now.
It's odd... I don't know if I like it.
Its pretty though. We never ever get this much snow - and when we do get snow it melts in one day.
I will try to get some pictures and post them later!

Rewind to Tuesday.

This past Tuesday, as you all know, Riah came to my house! As she said, we exchanged gifts and she gave me....:
"Wildflower Bride" by Mary Connealy!!!! I am so excited about this book. It's next on my reading list! :)
Riah also gave me a key-chain that is like a solar panel so my name flashes on it!
AND last but not least: A beautiful scarf and gloves to match (I have worn both everyday so far!) - needless to say that we both had a great time!

Merry Christmas - we had a visit from the Grinch...

I got to work today and was told that the store was robbed yesterday!!! Some thief (we call him Grinch) came through the roof and cut open the safe - all of the money was stolen but no one was there when it happened - praise God!

On to other news: I was at my grandma's house yesterday and Bee's boyfriend went with us. He was given a list of things to do since he is 6 feett 4 inches! haha.
On the way to her house (she lives about 2 hours away) I started reading "Sharpshooter in Petticoats" by Mary Connealy! I was instantly captured and had a hard time putting it down! (no surprise there!) I have been waiting to find out what Mandy's horrid husband would do next (or what she would do to him!) and now I am finding out!! :)

December 1st!

Welcome to December 2010! It's hard to believe that it is already time for Christmas again. The year has flown by so fast.
Our Christmas tree is up and decorated - I finished putting the last ornaments on it yesterday. I am very much in a Christmas mood and can't wait to do more decorating!
Just wrapped a bunch of presents and now I am going to try to find something to get for my mom!

Happy Christmas Mood.

'Tis true, 'tis true... I am in a small Christmas mood.
Tonight at work I was asked to redo the Christmas table at the front of the store. My boss said to, and I quote: "be creative - make it look good, but be as creative as you'd like!" and then... "I am releasing you to be creative anywhere in the store. Enjoy!" He is awesome!
So, I created a nice, organized, yet creative table of Christmas things. I am very pleased with the way it turned out! AND as I did that I was humming along with an instrumental Christmas song!
Oyvey! Now if only I would be motivated to do some Christmas shopping.....

Shall We Cry?

The cold weather is working it's way here again. Hence the title: "Shall We All Cry?"
When cold weather moves in, Flip Flops move out, and when Flip Flops move out, socks and closed toe shoes move in, and when socks and closed toe shoes move in, that means sweaters and jackets move in too!!! And on top of all that, the trees start to lose their leaves, and the world goes dreary gray!
Okay, okay, so I'm being a little dramatic about the weather. The sky is still blue in the cold weather most of the time, and some of the grass stays green... and before the leaves fall off the trees, we get an exciting show of fiery oranges, burnt reds, and bold yellows!
The plus side of cold weather is that we can use our fireplace - having a real fire to sit by with a steaming mug of hot chocolate, wrapped in a cozy blanket with a good book. That is what gets me through the winter without leaking salt water through my eyes. (aka: crying)(hehehe)
Another plus side about the cold weather is the awesome "wintry" foods to eat. Hot soups, and other hot food that is too heavy/hot to eat in the warmer months. And since I enjoy baking/cooking that also helps me get through the winter without leaking salt water through my eyes.
I know, I know, I'm being a little dramatic...again.

Here We Go Again.

It's snowing again. It's now sticking after a whole day of snow fall. I'm bummed. But whatever. Winter will be over soon, and when Summer hits us we'll probably want it to be cold again. It seems like we can't make up our minds huh?!
Okay. Just so ya know. These posts will be short now. Very short. I don't wanna spend too much time on the computer when I am home. I spend my whole day in front of the computer when I am at work... so I'm sure you understand. :)

Going to go listen to my new CD that was supposed to be my Christmas CD, but didn't in until today, and read a very funny book,

Oh the Joy of Winter.

It's still raining. Since yesterday evening...all through the night...and through today. The water level is super high. And we're supposedly in a drought... or we were. HA!
But I'm not going to complain. Much. Rain is good. We like to drink water. Take showers. Wash dishes. All of that jazz. That's what I keep reminding myself.
It still doesn't change the fact that I want sunshine and warm weather.
All in good time...
